Collection: MEIRYOKU

The cultivar Meiryoku (茗緑) was named after the Chinese character “茗”, meaning tea, and its bright green leaf color. Developed in 1986 as a gyokuro cultivar suited to cultivation in high-altitude regions, it is a cross between Yabukita and Yamatomidori. Thanks to its high yield, strong disease resistance, and ease of cultivation, its planted area has expanded in recent years. Its appeal lies in its refined aroma and light, fruity character, offering a refreshing sensation reminiscent of a breeze sweeping through the highlands. The tea presents a juicy sweetness suggestive of ripe fruit, a rich umami reminiscent of egg yolk, and an excellent balance of bitterness and astringency. Its fresh, invigorating profile also makes it an ideal tea for staying hydrated and refreshed during the heat of summer.
