Collection: MEIRYOKU
The Meiryoku (茗緑) cultivar takes its name from two sources: the Chinese character 茗 (mei), meaning "tea," and 緑 (ryoku), reflecting the cultivar's distinctively bright green leaves. Developed in 1986, it is a gyokuro cultivar well suited to cultivation in high-altitude regions. A cross between Yabukita and Yamatomidori, it is high-yielding, disease-resistant, and easy to grow, which has led to an increase in its cultivation in recent years. Its appeal lies in its elegant aroma and light, fruity character—fresh and invigorating, like a breeze across highlands. The flavor carries a juicy sweetness reminiscent of ripe fruit, combined with an egg-like umami richness and a well-balanced interplay of bitterness and astringency. It also makes an ideal drink for staying hydrated and keeping summer fatigue at bay.
