Collection: SHIBORIDASHI
Flat, handleless small teapot
A shiboridashi (literally “squeezing-out teapot”) is characterized by its shallow, gently curved shape, which allows tea leaves to spread evenly during infusion. As it is used without a strainer, it is easy to clean and especially well suited as an introductory tea vessel. Each piece is crafted by Munehiko Morioka using clay sourced from Azumino or Bizen, and wood-fired in an anagama kiln for approximately one week with red pine. This process produces richly varied surfaces―natural landscapes shaped by the interaction of clay, fire, and wood ash at high temperatures. The teapot is notably durable and offers excellent pouring control. The shiboridashi form allows the leaves to fully unfurl, enabling the tea to be poured out completely, down to the final drop.
