Flat, handleless small teapot

A shiboridashi, with its shallow and gently curving form, allows tea leaves to spread out evenly, supporting a balanced extraction. As it is used without a strainer, it is also easy to care for, adding to its appeal.Our original shiboridashi was developed in close collaboration with the Azumino-based potter Munehiko Morioka through a long process of testing and refinement.It is made from Bizen clay, one of the most suitable clays for yakishime (unglazed, wood-fired ceramics). This clay has been used for hundreds of years in Bizen to produce the renowned Bizen ware. After shaping the piece on the wheel, Morioka fires it continuously for about one week in a wood-fired anagama (single-chamber tunnel kiln).The result is an exceptionally durable body with a surface rich in microscopic pores. This characteristic of Bizen yakishime subtly enhances both water and tea, bringing greater liveliness, improving flavor clarity, and creating a smooth, silk-like mouthfeel.Each piece displays a unique landscape of natural coloration, shaped by the unpredictable movement of flame and ash within the kiln. The cut of the spout is precise, allowing for a clean pour and enabling you to decant every last drop. Its form is comfortable in the hand, making it both a functional tool and a welcoming introduction to the world of teaware.
